3600 is pretty much a standard speed for a 60Hz AC motor. And as far as the
size of converter you need for a 2Hp mill. Unless you have a lot of other
motors on there then a 3 to 5 Hp would be more than sufficient. You have to
be careful not to go too big or the converter will simply not work properly.
Also, I know there are a lot of static three phase converters out there but
you would be well advised to go with a rotary phase convertor. They generate
an output much closer to true three phase than does a static unit. Also,
remember to always start the LARGEST motor on your machine FIRST then the
smaller ones afterwards. You will have a lot fewer problems if you do this.
