The BOSS stepper drives do NOT use a DC power supply. They use
a magnetic amplifier in the AC feed to each stepper axis' power supply.
The idea is the DC supply sags to about 18 V or so when the motors are
standing still, as the reactor/amplifier is driven into saturation by a
control
winding. When the axis needs to move, the control winding is turned
off, and
the DC supply rises to, I think, about 54 V DC.

So, you can't just plug a standard DC raw supply in there without
keeping the
magnetic amplifier working.
