It is a 5V encoder - 200 lines, 4 wires. If I remember correctly the
colours are: Red = 5V, black = 0V, green + white = A and B.
The disc is metal and is attached to a bronze bush that can be pulled
off the shaft. It pays to be a bit careful when doing this as it is easy
to flip the disc across the room when it suddenly lets go...
