well, if not in the dark ages, at least before the age
of geometry when ppl learned how to define an arc!
when i gasped in shock to learn of such devices as
'ladder logic programmers', my prof explained that
they had to do that cuz the skill pool was so aged
they couldn't learn but couldn't be tossed out,
either...
legacy....inertia....2000 years of that available for
whining on!
even so, i disagree on the point. as i've watched
hobbyist magazines dwindle, consolidate and
disappear...as i've watched all the pieces and parts
in the hobby shops give over the shelf space to models
and r/c vehicles...that's not some control system
making ppl lose interest in doing things for
themselves. it may be many different other things,
like the idea that they must aspire to a 'job' instead
of self employment like a REAL man....but deficient as
any aspect of cnc may be, it's definitely not the
cause for the lack of skills, lack of ambition, lack
of innovation, etc. which are symptoms.
