I use floppies to carry ALL my "at-desk-written"
CNC programs out to the shop! I have to EDIT those
almost always, "out there".
into my USB port, cuz I had the same problem. The
worse problem is my dongles don't work and the one
software compnay wants $1400 to upgrade. I never got
it to work anyway, anyone want to buy ONECNC cheap?
You will need a parralel port, they don't have a post
for my old machines, and the only way to get one is
for me to spend a lot of time helping them write the
post. Not into it so
Also, if you are having trouble DNC'ing programs, I
can't recommend highly enough a little program called
machine link.
IF you get it hooked up to your RS232 cable and
download any old program you can save the config file
and from then on you are set.
I do all my programming in the living room, then take
the laptop out to the shop, hook it up and send the
prgram into the lathe.
You can get it on Ebay for about a hundred bucks.
So for less than $50 you can get a floppy drive/USB
and a use nay new computer, and if you don't want to
fool with floppies get a fifty dollar Used gateway
laptop and machine link and save all your files to a
hard drive.
Works slick

into my USB port, cuz I had the same problem. The
