floppy disk reader ?

hi all,

I have about 1,000 floppies in the closet and boxes and such and want
to get rid of them.

I was thinking about taking a floppy drive and making a small machine
that would insert a floppy and then copy it, then eject it.

3 eject piles, good, bad disk, and did not insert disk.

I have searched for anything that can do this and came up empty.

any suggestions on things to watch out for ?

Anyone know if there are any software gotch-ya's on errors from a bad
disk ?

I am pretty sure I can connect the disk present sensor to the parallel
port to signal the start.

any suggestions are welcome.
