SolidWorks has a fast learning curve, excellent tutorials and gets the
job done in a serious sort of way. I have to agree with Jarrett. Go
ahead and get it. Also, SolidCam is a very nice CAM program that works
within the solidworks environment. It does not come with Solidworks, but
is worth getting.

I have only posted here once or twice, but here goes.
I have just started a small company that is desgning some Aerospace
stuff. my partner uses CADKEY which he likes for a bunch of reasons,
but we both know that we will have to bite the bullet to get a 3-D
program in the not too distant future, so, since i am not an
engineer, or CAD guy, i was just curious about opinions on software
choices.
Price is a consideration. if things go well for us, then purhcasing
something like SolidWorks would be in line with what we want (2
seats, perhaps 3), but right now, the 4000 per seat price is a
little....pricey.
so, i have heard about ProE and SolidEdge, but would like to hear
from this group what they recommend and why (and some idea of cost).
i really want to have something for me that won't bury me in
learning but i guess that is just part of the price of admission to
3D world.
oh, as you may expect, a lot of current vendors and customers that
we deal with use Solidworks.
thanks in advance for your help.
