For home use ... don't know about the low-end packages.

For the high-end packages ....
Unigraphics NX ($18,000 base package)
This product will do anything, Design, Drafting, Manufacturing, FEA, Rendering,
and anything ... but it better at $18,000.00/seat!
Learning curve to be efficient … with training and other users to work with … 6
months to a year … for the design and drafting side … manufacturing … well,
add on another 6months to a year.

Ideas NX …. same pretty much … not too sure about the manufacturing to date.

Pro-E …. $11,000/seat … maybe less depending on how well it is selling to date…
not too sure about the manufacturing to date, 6 year ago it was worthless.

Catia …. I am sure it is more then Unigraphics … but from what I have heard … a
sweet package.

Main advantage of High-End … all parametric with complete associatively to all
facets of the design process.

Draw-Backs ….. very long learning curve …. and impossibly expensive for the home
user or small company.

But you asked....
