hi all-
i've run into an interesting problem with the chinese dro
scales/displays:
i recently mounted a dro scale to a 8x12 lathe. initially the display
itself (a cheap shars unit) seemed to work fine, then it just all of
a
sudden went dim. after checking connections, cables, cleaning the
scale,
etc.. it appears that the problem is an electrical one.
Yours is a common problem, display is being grounded out. Remove
your grounding pin at outlet plug from display transformer. What is
happening is scales are grounding out on machine and overloading
transformer.
Take a pair of pliers and remove round ground connection from
transformer outlet plug. DC voltage between scale and machine
should now register about .02 volts instead of 5 volts. Display
transformer for these units cannot be a grounded version.
