Thanks for the update Ian.
These inverters seem to be a little funny when it comes to ELCB's. I have
never managed to keep a normal household ELCB in even with a really small
inverter, and we've used many different makes in all sorts of equipment,
with and without filters, and on several different factory and domestic
sites.
Yet others replied to the posts to say they don't have any problems.
It's got to be down I think to the differences in ground impedances I think.
Anyhow glad to hear your up an running. Just keep the fingers out and make
sure your cables are well protected, since without the ELCB you have less
protection.

After all your good advice I wanted to update you on my ELCB problem.
I rewired the workshop ring main and fed it from the non ELCB side of
the consumer unit and the problem went away.
Out of interest the workshop has three inverters in it already none
of which ever gave any problems with the ELCB. One of these is built
into my Myford 254 so I couldn't say just what it was but the other
two are an Alston ALSPA MV500 and a Mitsubishi E500. The inverter in
the Denford is by Siemens.
