They allso tried to install a 10 hour clock. It took fourty years to get the French to use the metric system, in the 1820s, Napoleon waved the metric system because nobody was using it. ten years later, the king of the Netherlands reinstaled the it to unify his somewhat strange kingdom. In 1840, a law was passed that obliged the French to metricate. I have a pan break, that I got from a building tha was going to be demolished. It is dated 1841, I've measured different bits of it, but nothing on it is either metric or imperial. (the French had a system close to imperial before metrication)

I'm a Brit I've lived nearly thirty years in France neither system is difficult, it's just like computers, the best system is the one you learnt on!

equipment, and stuff. Though I have no hard data to support it I might take a wager that when the academics decided that SI was the
way to go there was far more machinery, equipment and stuff on this planet that was inches than there was metric.
