actually use that system.
It makes sense when you link it to the bloke who went for a stroll to
measure the Equator - North pole distance (and got it wrong, as was pointed
out before).
Converting degrees to distance becomes really easy, handy when you're on a
boat. Earth is 40,000km round, and 400 degrees. One degree of travel is
100km. Remember that next time you're trying to do g-code with polar
co-ordinates!
