Members who receive posts via email possibly did not see Les Newell's post.
Yahoo's spam filter picked up his use of the word "L0T T3 RY" (I have had to re-spell it or they would do the same to me) and junked his post.

I don't think I would do that. I always find boring toothed belt pulleys
a bit of a xxxxxxx. They seldom have exactly the correct number of teeth
to grip directly in the chuck jaws so you end up having to make a sleeve
to fit around the outside. Any inaccuracy in the sleeve will of course
affect the accuracy of the bore.
To be honest, a few thousandths of an inch error isn't actually going to
make a noticeable difference to the final accuracy of the machine. Screw
inacuracies, flex, servo following error or stepper 'spring' all add far
more error.
