Why not try and use Freedos;
http://www.freedos.org/
From what I know it's totally free and unencumbered, stable, loads off a CD,
USB I think, or diskette, loaded with usefull applications like text editors
that work, packet drivers, unix enhancements, runs on old beaters or new
hardware. I use it all the time with CNCPRO and Turbocnc and never even
consider windoz in order to get a dos based control.
