Hi Gaston,
It should be possible, but defragment your hard drive in windows first, and of course make backups because while this this can work well enough, there are the odd times when it all can go wrong. If your windows partition is mission critical, don't do it. Or maybe think about adding another hard drive.

I have a machine running windows2000 with no partition. Would it be
possible to use the Ubuntu live cd, either 6.06 or 8.04, to create a
partition and install a dual boot on that machine without disrupting
what actually works?
