Zero problem.
Part of the Linux install is running a disk partition program and these know
how to coexist with a Windows install.
The program will shrink your Win2K disk partition by a couple of GB and give
you enough room to install Linux. If there are file fragments in that area,
they will be moved and Windows will be alerted to their new positions.
You might want to clean your Win2K system and defrag it. There is a company
called Piriform that makes CCleaner and Defraggler -- both free applications
(with a PayPal tip jar) and both excellent.
http://www.piriform.com/
They also make a file undelete utility but I have not had the chance to use
it.
