Ubuntu 8.04 is an LTS version and I think the next one will be next
year. If I were running CNC ( and with a little luck soon will be )
things were going well I would not update at all. If the program is
working and you are not going online I see no point in taking a chance
you will have a problem by updateing or up gardeing. Maybe once every
five years or so.
