I wouldn't bet the farm on it but I believe that EMC runs if you are
using Ubuntu on the LTS version and not the Upgrades in between. The
LTS version comes out every three years and is updated as needed.
Ubuntu 8.04 is an LTS version and I think the next one will be next
year. If I were running CNC ( and with a little luck soon will be )
things were going well I would not update at all. If the program is
working and you are not going online I see no point in taking a chance
you will have a problem by updateing or up gardeing. Maybe once every
five years or so.
