Good day,
I am a newbie, just started using a Proxxon MF70 manually. So much to
learn!
I want to convert this machine to CNC, and my plan is to use TurboCAD
on my Mac (already using it, good progress so far), some DWG to G-Code
translator (suggestions apprecieted), then EMC2 on an old laptop which I
have that still has parallel port.
In the meantime, I use a good old piece of paper and make lots of
mistakes :)
I am now trying to decide whether to go for a completely home-made job,
or get a kit from e.g. Usovo
<http://www.usovo.de/shop/product_info.php?language=en&info=p274_Umbausatz-fuer-Proxxon-MF70-zur-MF70-CNC-2008.html>.
It looks like the complete kit costs only a bit more than sourcing the
parts, but success is more or less guaranteed. I think you can't go
wrong with that reasoning, but still would like your input on that.
I've read a lot but still have lots of holes. Getting there though. I
have to thank many people who took the time to write web pages and
guides, especially some Mr. Tauseef of <http://www.cuttingedgecnc.com/>
fame for his very helpful web site (which led me here, among other places).
Best,
