For a 6 sided nut 1hz= 10RPM. A router turning 30K RPM will only require 3Khz capable sensor, well within Hall parameters. But then the resty of the circuit you build has to keep up with it. This may be a problem if you intend to do something like pick it up on a parallel port input to a computer.

Hall sensor by itself is worthless.

Gaston,

As stated to others, Hz = cycles per second; RPM is revolutions per
minute. One minute is 60 seconds so 12,000 Hz is 720,000 RPM, well
above the maximum operating speed of the router (I believe.) Now, if
you have a 6 point nut, it goes to 120,000 RPM, not too shabby...
