If it's a Windows XP computer

Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>DeviceManager>Ports(Com & Lpt). Right
click on ECP Printer Port for properties, then click on "Port Settings" tab
and enable legacy P&P.

All this chat about LPT hopefully leads me to believe SOMEone "out there"
can give me a tip:

I have a HP computer that "came with" Windows-XP, but, unlike earlier ones
that had Windows 98 and EARLIER, it will NOT drive my home-brew CNC gear
via the "Data Port (8 bits)" on the PUP, as did ALL the earlier PC's.
SOMEone "in here" suggested I "Set the LPT mode to SPP, then F10 to save."
OK,
but HOW do I find "LPT Mode" on the "Control Panel" or what? I have tried
EVERYthing!
