There is an awful lot of concern about casting the nut and how much
clearance is needed to provide conformance to the screw without binding.
It seems that the surface of the screw threads is the determining factor
and that it should be carefully lapped to remove as much of the
imperfection as possible prior to casting the nut. Proper lapping should
result in a much improved screw surface and can only help with the nut fit.
It should also improve the accuracy of the screw. Is this not the
classic method for producing screw threads with high accuracy?
