Tom,
It depends on your target OS and processor. If it's a 16 bit OS, where a
16 bit Int is the "Native" data type, go with the 64k limit. If it's a 32
bit OS (Windows 9x, NT, Linux), 32 Bit is actually FASTER than 16 bit, so
go for the billions
