My vote would be to keep it simple before we introduce a new problem. I
think that with this DRO geared toward the home hobbiest or HSM and even
small businesses, that the number should be geared to what is availble to
the public. There are always deals on encoders with the 200-1000 count range
but very little above that. So I would figure that we use 1000 counts 4000
quadrature as our standard. Next the average leadscrew is 5 or 10 TPI but
the sherline does use 20 TPI so that would be 80000 counts to the inch. I
think that is too much tho. I would vote for 40000 counts thus a resolution
of 1/40000=.0000025
Come on guys I think that is close enough for a sherline
