I couldn't agree more...having "done my time" as an assembler programmer in
a previous life, I didn't fancy programming on my hands & knees anymore and
have taken the easy way out with the PIC & gone for programming with the
aid of a "C" compiler. Check out :

I have been using their "C" development tools for the PIC for a few months
- they seem to work well & are relatively inexpensive. I still haven't
bothered to learn the assembler language. When I come across a problem
that absolutely has to have the speed/compactness of well-crafted
assembler, maybe - but it hasn't been a problem so far.
