I have had nothing but trouble with helicals on stepper systems.
seems that the smallest misalignment eventually causes total failure!
Just yesterday I had one that was rated for 180inlbs fail!
went back to lovejoy style and programmed for .003 backlash.
I have another machine with 3-4000 hours using this style .
