Never having used a hydraulic tracer mill, I'd have no idea how accurate
they are. I DO KNOW however, that you can build a mechanical tracer
attachment to fit on a standard Bridgeport (or any oother mill) that is
extremely aaccurate. We've used them to make highly accurate sight bases
and other components to mount on the compound curve section of rifle
barrels.
The device is spring loaded in the down position. It could be operated
manually or by a standard power feed unit.
It does not add to the noise factor. Total weight of the unit is only a few
pounds as the major componetnts are made from aluminum. Cost....EXTREMELY
CHEAP to build...and you can machine all your own parts right on the machine
your building it for.
