Do not laugh Smoke but modern servo valves
have to fight to get close to the accuracy of tracer valves.
On my lathe I found out that the difference between moving up and
moving down is 2 to 3 micrometers. So together with the tracer lever
it will be in my case a third of it in accuracy.
So old stuff must not be bad but it must be checked out if it is suitable for the
task to fulfil.
The trouble is in set up time and the oil heating up so that the parameters change.
I am stuck to my copy lathe because not any lathe operator in 10 years was able to set it up.
Good Luck
