Re: Stuck collet

Thanks to everyone for all the sugestions.
Here are my reactions to the sugestions:

The tube - If the tube compressed or creased, between the tool and
the inside of the spindle, I would have a BIGger problem.

Hitting the tool on the edge - Since the collet is quite tapered,
this may work, but it didn't work last time.

Lubrication - Sounds like a good idea, I just but silicon on the
latest mill.

Changing the design - I think I would thread the inside of the
spindle, make a threaded rod, with a brass plug on the tool end, and
use the treaded rod to jack the collet out.

BUT why are we having to reinvent this? Is it really a lousy design
that they just keep selling?
