Don't worry about the stress on the Gecko, just use a good heatsink. They
are designed to be useable at the full rating and from my experience with
Mariss if he says it is capable of 80 v @ 7 amps it will be rock solid
reliable at that rating.
You will get much better rapids from the 6 amp 2.1 V motors and the low end
torque will be identical. The Gecko white paper addressed suggested supply
voltage and if I remember correctly about 25 X is the recommendation, but
best to double check.
