Are you sure? Seems like it is the ratio of the 'special property' to
density, and I'm not sure gold is enough better in that regard to
account for its much higher density.

To bring this back on topic, I think the reason for gold plated
connectors is the avoidance of oxidation, not because the bulk metal
is any better.
