If your bearing diameter is only a little smaller than the minor
diameter of the thread, then you may need to make up a thinner wall
tube that can slip over it and allow you to transfer the balls
directly to the threaded portion.

If the bearing diameter is really close to the minor diameter, you
could proabaly position the nut at the end of the thread and feed
balls in one at a time though the exposed thread groove. Spread an
old blanket on the floor and sit in the middle of it, so that if you
drop one it can neither roll far nor bounce.
