These were all Japanese makes. The motors were mostly Sanyo, I think.
The drives were Teac, Toshiba, etc.

One 8" motor was modified and spins a huge EBM impeller that cools my
ancient VAX computer quietly. A 5" motor was modified with a crank
and it is the gasoline pump in my lawn tractor.
