Hello all,

While we're on the subject of large surplus electrolytic caps:

This type of capacitor has a tendency to go bad over time, more so if
unused. There is usually a date code which can be "puzzled out"; use
newer ones if possible...

It is a good idea to "condition" the older ones before use. I use a
variable DC bench supply, set to a LOW voltage. I also cover the caps
with a 5 gallon pail to contain the smell and "guts" of
any "exploded" caps... Believe me, this is somethig you only want to
experience once :-) Over a period of a couple of days, I gradually
increase the voltage to the intended "working" level, and let
it "cook" there for at least several hours. Then, the cap can be
chacked for proper operation and put into use.

Hope this helps.

Ballendo

P.S. Alan, most Estop switches are "released" by turning the red disk
CCW.
