Hi Smoke:
With all due respect, I think your chances of success with an 0.005"
endmill in a Sherline are pretty poor.
You don't have nearly the spindle speed for such a small cutter, and you
don't have the positioning resolution to control it well enough to avoid
snapping it on the first entry move.
Try to mill something like a firearm receiver at 38-40 Rockwell, and I don't
think you have a prayer.
Besides, those 0.005" endmills are expensive!!
