Your probably be right...as far as Sherlines go. I hadn' t given a thought
to what size machine was being used for the "engraving". Seeing as how I
don't have, and wouldn't use a Sherline in the first place, the point is
moot ...for me.
However, there are options like installing a very high speed air operated
spindle on the unit in lieu of the standard spindle. This would provide
plenty of speed for a .005 cutter. And you CAN cut Rockwell 38-40 with one
of these cutters. The secret is not to try milling to the full depth in one
pass....just like with any other larger cutter...and don't try milling at
top speed either.
