Since your purchase cost will be pretty much equal to the Sherline, I'd go
with the bigger machine for the simple reason you'll be able to do much
larger work now rather than have to buy a bigger machine
should you decide you need one in the future. This would be beneficial when
someone comes along and asks you if you can do some machine work for them
which won't fit on a Sherline...you won't be forced to turn them down due to
having to small a machine. I've run into that problem with my small lathe.
