If you live any where mear a City there are lots of Recycling places. Here i
Alaska in Anchorage is Alaska Metal Recyclers, You can buy a 4" round bard
of aluminum for aluminum scrap prices, or sqaure or rectangluar, super
cheap. I bout a 20' length of 6"x8"x3/4" 6160 aluminum there for aluminum
scrap price, n premium, they did cahrge me $10.00 for cutting into two 10'
lengths I could put in my pickup. I like aluminmum for all test runs becuase
it is easy to clean up. the wax anbd foam are not available locally,
(nothing is available locally but fish, bibles and beer) so when I do get to
Anchorage I scrounge, also I found Trailer craft that makes big trailers and
two other fabrication shops are glad to give me all I can haul becasue they
have to pay someone to do it, I am saving them money dumpster diving. I also
use Corianne alot, it mills very nice, makes greast permanent fixtures,
downside is unless you are licensed you can't buy the glue and make pieces
thicker than 1/2" super glue won't touch it or epoxy, I don't know what kind
of secret glue it is but it is the only glue I have found that works on it
and 1/2" is not big enough, No contractor buddies are wiling togive me glue.
Corriane is fierce about scrap and evrything so you have to know a cabinet
shop well to get any.
No wax for me thanks, the reasonis I sparay lacquer and wax will make it
fisheye, so carry on. hope somethnig I say might be useful to someoone
sometime. Johnno
