hey all!
Well I think I finally might of found a good CAD/CAM package that
is "affordable." Its excalibur from XCAM and its at
http://www.excaliburcnc.com/ its seems like a mixture of rhino
(which i just love) with CAM built in!! Downloaded the trial version
and looks good so far. Wondering if any of the more "experts" have
seen or tried it (or xcam products). Its $750 cad/cam and seems very
straight forward.

[I don't want to burst your bubble, Tauseef, but it's $750 for the Cad
module, then an extra $750 for the mill module. (Turn and Wire are each $500
extra.) That's still not bad, though- at least they aren't asking for
"maintenance" (which can easily amount to this much per year, on some of the
high-end programs). Was the Mill module able to import IGES files from
Rhino, or can it only deal with its own files? If so, can you buy it
separately, without getting the CAD? It does look like an interesting
program, with more capabilities than the old X-Cam. It mentions being able
to work with NURBS surfaces and splines, but I'm not sure if it polygonizes
them, or executes them directly- can you tell what it's doing? ]
