site. The url is http://www.stlwork.com We also have a 30 day demo
of Stltrans, which does all the translations that Alan was talking
about and also DEM for contour mapping, X-Y-Z grid to STL, 3D
truetype font models and beveled 3D forms.
We have a few of the Amorphiums left. One of the interesting
features of Amorphium is the ability to apply a bit mapped image to a
plane, cylinder or sphere, and then make modifications to it, as if
it had been carved into clay. It does come with a Mac or PC
executable. Another similar product, with even more power than
Amorphium, is Amapi, which also has dual OS versions on the same CD.
Right now my eyes are on the ProDesktop product from PTC. They make
Pro-Engineer a high end engineering design program (top of the hill
application). ProDesktop has a lite version that is "free". The
liteness, or things that are not in the free version are the VBA
interface, the ability to save and open licensed 3D kernal file
formats, and maybe rendering. As advertised, it includes a variety
of high end cad formats for import and export, and does excellent 3D
solid , "parametric" modeling. The full version sells for just over
$3500USD. It will save directly to Stl, which is the format that
StlWork is looking for.
