No Rhino is not an animation program it is strictly a 3d modeling program. There have
been some people that have come up with scripts that do some basic animation but it is
still limited.
If you want an affordable yet powerful animation program you really have to decide what
it is exactly that you want to do with animation. I use a program called Cinema 4D GO
which I think is a fantastic program and it costs about $200. I belive they have Mac
versions as well as IBM versions. I have been using it for over a year and I love the
program. I have done several animations with it but I still do all my modeling in Rhino.
I mean you spend all that money on a modeling program you might as well use it right? :-)
You can do a considerable amount of modeling in Cinema 4D I just prefer to model in
Rhino. If you would like to see a sample animation that I did using rhino to model and
Cinema 4D to animate you can see a short clip that I did at this address
http://www.dreesecode.com/cr/rocketsmall.mpg
A friend of mine hosts it on his server for me since I no longer have a website.
here are the urls for the two programs:
Rhino3D www.rhino3d.com
Cinema 4D Go http://www.maxon.net/usa/index.html
Hope this helps,
Chris
