Jon,
That is a very real possibility. The manual says turn all pots CCW
until you hear a clicking or ratcheting sound. Hmmmm. The only one
that makes a distinct sound (keeping in my mind my hearing is not so
good, especially with other small noises around the shop) is the AUX
pot that is not used on this card.
The way I determined when I was fully CCW on the other pots was by
using an ohm-meter. When the value didn't change after cranking CCW
I figured that was all the way CCW. Since the BAL was not used in
initial setup I never checked that one for any change as the screw
was turned. Good thinking!!!!
Another thing, the Y axis board has been in and out of the this
machine a fair number of times. That's obvious from the aluminum
screw tabs anchoring the board. I'm second owner for almost 8 years,
previous owner, 4 years, was a large plastics company that always
called a service company for problems. I've only had the board out
twice.
thanks again,
Doug
