Bob you can use Vector CAD to draw machinable, Tru-type font
outlines, Use Cut and Paste to make a mirror image of the outlines,
export to DXf and use one of the free G-code converters to create the
program. If you need the letters to be in a circle, create the
toolpath in DeskEngrave(free) and then use VectorCad to make the
Mirror image. You can also use the hatch function to clear out any
wide areas inside the font outlines.

If you need to have really precise control over the form of the
letters, you can use the Swept curve pocket function in Vector to
create raised or sunken letters that have a defined shape along the
sides. This could be a radius or an angle to improve the release
properties of the mold.

If you offset the geometry of the letters with a V-tipped cutter and
place these contours at the desired depth, you can easily make raised
letters in your part(sunken in the mold) that have angled sides.
These look very nice on a molded part.
