Re: What do we want?

Several have posted good comments on this cad/cam thing and seem to be
moving toward a group project to make some kind of expert machining system.
I'm trying to get my head around the nature of the problem(s) that we are
trying to work on.

Statements of the problem?

Knowledge - One problem is that we have, are getting, or are
making/retrofitting cnc machines but do not have the experience with and
knowledge of machining to confidently program those machines to make the
kinds of product that we want or need to produce. (Speeds and feeds,
tooling, materials)

CAD/CAM/Linux - One problem for the emc/linux people is that they do not
have a good cad/cam system available to them in that os.

Machine Code - One problem for some is that their machine uses code or
moves that are not compatible with the output of currently available programs.

CAD/CAM Program Cost - One problem for many is the high cost in cash and
time of product development cad/cam systems for HSM and small production
shop kinds of folk.

What have I missed? What have I mis-stated?
