Checking a dimension on a drawing has become second nature to me. A
lot of transfered files via DXF have a nasty habit, depending on
source CAD program, of outputing a metric file in inches. Dolphin has
a check box that can force it to import in either inch or metric or
import in the default units.
Smokes remark above about scaling up changes the dimension can lead
to even more errors. A lot of programs have filters to stop this
happening.
Just imagine you have a small 0.020" undercut in a part and you want
to do an enlarged view to show detail, a keyhole view.
You scale this up by say three to get good detail for the machinist
to see but the undercut is now 0.060" wide on the keyhole view but
still 0.020" on the main drawing. That's an accident looking to
happen.
