If you look through a tube at a bright light you can see concentric circles
down the "barrel". If all the circles are not perfectly centered on each
other there is some bending. They use presses to straighted the barrels. For
the most part rifle bores are not straight. The barrels are usually
drilled/reamed/rifled then turned between centers for contouring so the hole
is in the middle at both ends but usually wonders in the middle. I think you
are working to closer tolerances for staightness than most barrel makers.
