While I'll grant you the shotgun barrel needs to be straight (not
necessarily laser perfect mind you) the most important requirement to get
the gun to "shoot where it ought" is a properly fitted stock. A poorly
fitted stock will lower a shooters inherent skills while a properly fitted
stock will raise it.
As for the barrel...you can still look down the bore and see how straight it
is..just point it at a light bulb (one that's turned on and emitting light).
BTW...CNC is a really good method for doing stock carving.
