Ok Bill,
somehow it is of topic.
But from my point of view:
This group is a kind of help-group like AA-groups in
all kind of questions that occure in a machine shop.

And the bidding is a serious and important aspect in every shop.
It can give a shop a good push forward, or ride you into
pretty trouble.
I remember times when I spent weeks on quotes and pre projects
for sometimes not even get a thank you. ("We get that cheaper
from Taiwan.")
If I would have stayed in the shop I would have been paid for every
single minute.

So I think some of these OT-topics are pretty helpfull
specially for the beginers in business.
And it is very important (at least for me) to hear opinions of
people out of other branches and with different experiences.
