Gerald,

I think $10 isn't enough, but it probably scares some time-wasters
away.

I quit bidding long ago. It's a waste of time. Besides, I don't want
to deal with customers who base their purchasing decisions on the
apparent low bid.

The worst customers I've dealt with are "inventors". As soon as a
potential customer mentions that he's an inventor I show him the
door. They're usually the ones who have no money, have lots of half
baked ideas and always insist on knowing exactly how much their
machine work will cost even though they can never tell you
specifically what they want done.
