Thanks for the pointer - The code in question is in src/emcmot/tc.c - Took a
little while to find it...

After reducing the value of A_CHANGE_MAX progressively to .00001, I could
finally do a G1X0.1A180 with a reasonable feedrate of 10ipm. The side affect
of going this small is now G0 moves with A only are extremely slow. For the
time being, I think the source code is best left alone and the feedrates
adjusted within the G code file.
A note about this should be included in the handbook at some stage..
