No, that would simply be a presumably temporary conversion of a vertical mill to
a horizontal one. The one I've seen aeemed to be able to, "point", in any
direction except at it's base/mount up to the machine.

Some might be, but I wouldn't know about them at this point. I couldn't find a
picture of the one I remember seeing, but I did find one that's sorta close,
along with some varients. The one I remember was an almost perfect sphere, but
the one I found that's closest, is in, "Machine Shop Practice, Volume 2", by
K. H. Moltrecht. The closest is on page 91. There are varients on pages 93,
and 187. None of these appear to have anything in the way of hand adjustments,
wheels, or even wing nuts. There seems to be a lack of steppers and servos' as
well, so determining if they're fixed or movable is problematic at the moment.
